Antonio Gates Injury Update: San Diego Chargers TE Inactive With Foot Injury

A stand out tight end and favorite target of quarterback Philip Rivers, Antonio Gates has been made inactive for the San Diego Chargers' Week 9 game on the road against the Houston Texans.

Gates dealt with a foot injury, along with all sorts of other maladies that have slowed the tight end down in recent weeks and led to his inclusion on the team's injury report. Gates was doubtful on the Chargers report throughout the week, but had indicated he might try to play through the pain.

Instead he will miss his first game of the 2010 season, a blow to the Chargers' passing attack. This means more looks for receiver Patrick Crayton, who has become a steady target for Philip Rivers since injuries have befallen Malcom Floyd, Legedu Naanee and now Gates.
