Arik Armstead Injury: Updates on 49ers DE’s Shoulder and Recovery

San Francisco 49ers defensive end Arik Armstead was placed on injured reserve Tuesday because of a lingering shoulder injury.

Latest on Armstead's Shoulder Recovery Tuesday, Nov. 8 Doug Kyed of NESN reported Armstead's move to the IR list. Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee previously noted the injury has plagued the lineman since he first suffered it Aug. 10 during training camp.
The 49ers later announced the roster move and confirmed they claimed defensive tackle Chris Jones off waivers from the Miami Dolphins to fill the void.
Armstead wasn't terribly impactful as a rookie, but he was healthy. Appearing in all 16 games, the University of Oregon product accumulated two sacks and 19 total tackles as a rotational rusher thanks to his massive 6'7", 296-pound frame.
