Big Blue Opener: Jets Get Their Wish, but Giants Get Their Way

The New York Giants will host the first game in the new Meadowlands Stadium this fall, after a coin toss was used to determine which New York team would get the nod.
After rumors swirled that the New York Giants had already been scheduled to break in the new stadium, the New York Jets suggested openly that a coin toss be used to determine the opening game.
New York Jets owner Woody Johnson was a full supporter of this notion, and he possibly tried to use the media to sway NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell into conducting a coin toss.
Before today, there was no indication the league acknowledged such a possibility—and because the schedules are not released until April, only rumors echoed in the Giants favor.
In the end, the Jets got their wish and received a coin toss to determine the first game at the new Meadowlands.
The only problem for Gang Green was that they fell on the opposite side of the coin.
