Philadelphia Eagles offensive guard Brandon Brooks was tabbed as one of the franchise's premier free-agent signings, but the big-ticket acquisition was forced to leave Thursday's preseason opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a right bicep injury.

Philadelphia invested $40 million over five years in the mammoth guard this spring, and he battled a hamstring injury at the start of training camp that had already hindered his availability throughout the summer.
Should Brooks miss time as the preseason progresses, the Eagles can at least take solace in the fact that they invested resources in veteran offensive lineman Stefan Wisniewski, who is capable of plugging in at right guard or center in a pinch.
