Charles Clay Contract: Latest News and Rumors on Negotiations with Bills

After signing a five-year, $38 million contract with the Buffalo Bills last offseason, tight end Charles Clay may already be in line for a restructured deal.

Report: Bills Expected to Alter Clay's Cap Hit Thursday, Feb. 25 According to Sal Capaccio of WGR 550 in Buffalo, Clay is expected to have a $10 million roster bonus due on March 11 converted into a signing bonus, which would bring his 2016 salary-cap number down from $13.5 million to $6 million.
Per Capaccio, the Bills' top 51 contracts currently come to roughly $157 million, but the cap is projected to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $155 million.
Restructuring Clay's deal would provide significant relief, as would doing the same with defensive backs Leodis McKelvin and Corey Graham as well as releasing defensive end Mario Williams, which are all moves Capaccio anticipates.
