Chip Kelly Says Pope Francis ‘100 Percent’ Helped Eagles Get 1st Win

The Philadelphia Eagles entered Week 3 of the 2015 NFL season 0-2 and looked completely out of sorts—and then Pope Francis arrived in the City of Brotherly Love.
Philadelphia won its next game, a 24-17 victory over the then-unbeaten New York Jets. Coincidence? Not according to Eagles head coach Chip Kelly.
Kelly went on Sports Radio 94 WIP on Monday morning to discuss the game. After breaking down his team early on in the interview, Kelly had some fun when talking about Pope Francis' trip to Philadelphia. (The comments come at around the 10:25 mark of the interview.)
"That the Pope helped us? That's 100 percent true," Kelly joked. "If you watched what we did in the second half, we were trying to get the game over quicker so we could come back and see him."
