Christina Aguilera Offers Up a Forgettable Rendition of the National Anthem
Singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl is a pretty considerable honor, and it goes without saying that whoever is tabbed to perform it is going to be under the microscope of several million people across the globe.
This year, pop superstar Christina Aguilera was tabbed to do the honors. And, well, she didn't do a very good job with it.
First of all, Aguilera botched several of the Star-Spangled Banner's lyrics, namely singing "what so proudly we watched" instead of "o'er the ramparts we watched." In fact, there were several noticeable pauses in her rendition, as if she was struggling to remember each and every line.
Furthermore, it seemed like she was off-key for the most part, and certain parts were just downright painful to listen to.
