Colt McCoy and the Cleveland Browns QB Situation

The blogosphere and the regular media outlets all have been debating just what Colt McCoy's futre is with the team, with some people speculating McCoy already has been relegated to career backup on the Browns roster. Speculation like that is just plain silly, and gives other bloggers a bad name. Colt McCoy is a third-round draft pick who currently is learning the playbook and will have several opportunities to stake his claim on the starter's list in the coming year or two. That's all. It's far too early to proclaim McCoy either the "Future" of the franchise, or a pit stop on the way to drafting another quarterback next year. The Browns currently have four quarterbacks listed on their roster, and a fifth quarterback who was invited to participate in Rookie Camp and, to date, hasn't been asked to leave.
