Derek Carr Contract: Latest News, Rumors on Negotiations with Raiders

Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is putting together an MVP-caliber season on a bargain contract thanks to being a second-round draft pick in 2014, though that could change soon.

Raiders to Focus on Carr Thursday, Dec. 8 Per Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, the Raiders are expected to work on signing Carr to a long-term extension before turning their attention to star defender Khalil Mack. 
It's a logical move for the Raiders. Though the team drafted both players in 2014, Mack's contract contains a fifth-year option because Oakland selected him in the first round, and the Raiders are almost certain to exercise it before the May 3 deadline.
Carr, on the other hand, has just one year left on his deal after 2016, and he's outplayed his rookie contract with 10,632 yards and 77 touchdowns in his nearly three years in the league. He's also put up a career-high 65.5 completion percentage this season.
