For the first time in his NFL career, safety Devin McCourty is a free agent. The 27-year-old has been a valuable part of the New England Patriots defense for a long time, but now he's got a chance to cash in on his previous efforts. 
McCourty discussed his impending free agency and his desire to stay in New England, according to Tom E. Curran of CSNNE.com:
But with an expiring contract, Tom E Curran had to ask, was Super Bowl XLIX McCourty's last game in a Patriots' uniform?
"I hope not. We'll see, but I hope not. This ride has been incredible -- being in the Super Bowl twice and winning it once -- there's not much a player can ask for except for being at home," McCourty said. "And this is home."
The Patriots drafted McCourty in the first round of the 2010 draft. He was originally a cornerback but moved to safety permanently during the 2012 season after New England acquired Aqib Talib.
