Brees Would "Rather Not" Play in 2016 Without New Deal Tuesday, April 26 Brees appeared on SiriusXM NFL Radio on Tuesday with Alex Marvez and Gil Brandt and discussed the possibility of reaching an agreement for a new contract with the Saints that would also lessen his $30 million cap hit in 2016.
The quarterback said, “I’m very confident that it will [get done]. I’ve got one year left, so it’s not the end of the world if it doesn’t, and we play through the year. I did that back in 2011. I’d rather not do that.”
