Drew Brees Injury: Updates on Saints Star’s Oblique and Return

Even minor injuries become big news when they involve star players. New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was forced to miss some training camp work after suffering an oblique injury during Friday's practice.
Don Banks of Sports Illustrated reports Saints head coach Sean Payton is listing the eight-time Pro Bowler as day-to-day:
It doesn't sound like New Orleans is overly concerned about the ailment. Most likely the team is just exercising an extreme amount of caution at this stage of the summer. There's no reason to rush him back and risk a more serious issue.
Brees has played in 127 of 128 possible regular-season games during his eight seasons with the Saints. If there were a game scheduled for tomorrow, it's a strong bet he would fight through the pain and make sure he was on the field.
Instead, it's training camp with six more days until the team's first preseason game. Playing it safe is certainly the right route to take at this stage.
