Eagles Sign Kevin Kolb to One-Year Extension

It couldn't have been any longer because of the goofy rules in an uncapped season, but the Eagles did what they could and signed quarterback Kevin Kolb to a one-year extension that will pay him a guaranteed $12.25 million over the next two seasons.

Every penny of that figure is guaranteed regardless of performance or any other factor, which was really the only way they could come close to paying him starter money in this new circumstance.

It's likely that he'll receive a long-term deal once a salary cap is back in place, but this is good enough for right now. Both sides appear happy with the deal and now the Birds can move forward without this big pink elephant in the room.

"We're happy to have Kevin under contract for the next two seasons," said head coach Andy Reid. "When given the chance, Kevin has proven to have good command of this offense and we’re looking forward to having him operate as the No. 1 quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles."
