Fluke or Franchise: Breaking Down Matt Miller’s Diss of DeMarco Murray

DeMarco Murray ran his way into the record books last Sunday against the St. Louis Rams by totaling 253 yards on 25 carries. This was the second highest rushing total from an NFL rookie running back and the highest single game rushing total for any Dallas Cowboy—a franchise that has boasted runners such as Tony Dorsett, Herschel Walker and Hall Of Fame, all-time leading rusher Emmitt Smith.
Murray achieved his feat during his first NFL start behind an offensive line that includes two rookies and has struggled in run blocking all year.
Nonetheless, there are those in the sports media who would like to dismiss this as a lucky set of circumstances for Murray, who got his record-breaking start against a terrible team.
