Gary Barnidge Injury: Updates on Browns TE’s Recovery from Sports Hernia Surgery

Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson announced tight end Gary Barnidge underwent surgery for a sports hernia Thursday morning.

Barnidge Expected Back for Training Camp Thursday, June 2 Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal passed along the news from Jackson, who also stated the tight end should be healthy again in time for camp.
The 30-year-old was a revelation amid a career year in 2015. Despite losing Pro Bowler Jordan Cameron in free agency, Cleveland didn't have to worry about production from the tight end spot in the passing game thanks to Barnidge's meteoric rise. He finished with 79 catches for 1,043 yards and nine touchdowns.
E.J. Bibbs could receive a shot to contribute more frequently early in camp, but he was scarcely used last year. Randall Telfer, Connor Hamlett and rookie J.P. Holtz should also see extra snaps with the first team until the team's starter is cleared for full participation.
