Jason Pierre-Paul Injury Update: Giants Star Ruled Active vs. Buccaneers

The New York Giants announced defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul has been activated for the first time since losing his right index finger in a Fourth of July fireworks accident. 
Thought to be lost for the season—and possibly his career—Pierre-Paul spoke to ESPN’s Josina Anderson about his return:
My confidence is high and can't nobody tell me different. Let me tell you, when guys say they know what pain is.
I feel like nobody in here knows what real pain is like. I know what it feels like. Even if I get a nick here or there, my mindset is different about overcoming things because I'm just so happy to be playing.
I'm going to be the same JPP that can run to the quarterback out there and make everybody around me better. I'm starting to do that already. 
How effective he’ll be is speculation. He’s reportedly been practicing with a specialized glove, as shown by ESPN’s Dan Graziano:
