Khalil Mack has developed into one of the NFL's premier pass-rushing forces since he was drafted in 2014, but the Oakland Raiders aren't expected to rush a contract extension once the 2016 season is over.

Latest on Mack's Negotiations With the Raiders Thursday, Dec. 8 Citing a source with knowledge of the situation Thursday, Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio reported the Raiders plan to prioritize an extension for quarterback Derek Carr over Mack because the defensive end's contract has a fifth-year team option that can be exercised before May 3.
While Mack is signed to a fully guaranteed deal through the 2017 season that has a team option for 2018, Carr's contract doesn't give the Raiders as much leeway.
