LeGarrette Blount’s Role Increases: RB Will Get Goal-Line Carries for Buccaneers

Apparently rookie running back LeGarrette Blount made quite an impression on head coach Raheem Morris with his six carries for 27 yards and a touchdown in Sunday’s 38-13 loss to the Steelers.
Morris said in an interview on WDAE-AM 620 that Blount will be the short-yardage and goal-line back moving forward.

Blount made an immediate impact, taking his first NFL carry for 12 yards for a first down.

He later scored his first NFL touchdown, and Coach Morris said he was impressed with Blount’s physical running style.

The move is as much about providing depth as it is getting Blount carries.

"It's not time for wholesale panic where you start changing the position," Morris said. "We can't give (Cadillac Williams) 28 straight carries, so someone's got to come in and give us a spark."

Blount, who scored 17 touchdowns in 13 games as a junior at Oregon in 2008 before a suspension took most of his 2009 season, will be looked upon to provide that s...
