Looking Back on the “Mr. Irrelevants” of Past NFL Drafts

Mr Irrelevant was created back in 1976 to celebrate the last pick in the NFL Draft. Back then the pick was final pick in round 17, 487th overall. The pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers was WR Kelvin Kirk out of the University of Dayton. He was surprisingly invited to a celebration in his honor in Orange County, California. He was so irrelevant he was replaced for the opening ceremonies and the parade in his honor because he missed his flight. He was cut by Steelers and went on to have a seven year career in the CFL.
