Luke McCown Re-Signs with Saints: Latest Contract Details, Comments and Reaction

Veteran quarterback Luke McCown will continue his tenure as a member of the New Orleans Saints after reportedly agreeing to a deal with the team.
On Thursday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported McCown's contract will be worth $3 million over two years with a $500,000 signing bonus.
McCown has been with the Saints since 2013, though he's thrown only 40 passes over the past three seasons because Drew Brees is entrenched as the starting quarterback. McCown did make one start in 2015, against Carolina in Week 3, after Brees had suffered a shoulder injury.
Even though injuries and limited playing time have defined McCown's NFL career, he told Jimmy Watson of the Shreveport Times that being a backup is not a bad gig: “In that role with the Saints, I like working with the younger guys and helping Drew be the best he can be."
