MarQueis Gray, Dolphins Agree to New Contract: Latest Details and Reaction

The Miami Dolphins agreed to a two-year extension with tight end MarQueis Gray on Thursday.
Gray announced the new deal on Instagram:
Entering Week 17, the 27-year-old has 14 receptions for 174 yards in 15 games.
In November, the Dolphins placed Jordan Cameron on injured reserve as a result of concussion problems. DolphinsWire's Luis D. Sung wrote at the time that it wasn't clear whether Cameron will continue playing altogether, having suffered multiple concussions over his NFL career.
With that question hovering over the Dolphins offense in 2017, re-signing Gray makes sense. He has been a steady backup behind Dion Sims, especially after Cameron's concussion forced him to play a bigger role.
The Palm Beach Post's Joe Schad praised Gray's work:
Sims will be a free agent at the end of the season, which adds to the doubt around the tight end position in Miami.
