Michael Bennett Injury: Updates on Jaguars DT’s Calf and Return

Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Michael Bennett suffered a calf injury in his team's Week 4 preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday, per team official Tad Dickman.

Young DL on Roster Bubble Thursday, Sept. 1 A 2015 sixth-round pick, Bennett played in 13 games during his rookie season, totaling 10 tackles with 0.5 sacks. This latest injury could provide problems for the 23-year-old as he tries to secure a role on the 53-man roster.
In addition to projected starters Roy Miller and the newly signed Malik Jackson, Jacksonville added a bunch of defensive linemen through the draft. Yannick Ngakoue is more of a pass-rusher, but fourth-round pick Sheldon Day could take playing time away from Bennett.
Jonathan Woodard was also taken in the 2016 draft but tore his Achilles in training camp.
Bennett remained confident as he fought in-house competition, explaining his improvement from his rookie season.
