New York Jets WR Braylon Edwards Eludes a Suspension in 2010

New York Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards just caught a break.
At least he cannot drop this one (sorry, couldn't resist).
Reported by NBC Sports, Edwards will avoid any suspension from Roger Goodell and the NFL league office for getting into a fight with a friend of NBA Superstar LeBron James at a Downtown Cleveland nightclub just days before getting traded to New York.
Rumors were circulating around the NFL that Edwards would probably get at least a one-game suspension, but instead the NFL will most likely fine him one game's worth of his 2010 salary which equates to just over $256,000.
With fellow receiver and new Jet Santonio Holmes already set to sit out the first four games of the 2010 regular season due to violating the NFL's Substance Abuse Policy, if the Jets lost Edwards for even one game that would have caused a problem at the receiver position without having either of them suiting up on game day.
Now the Jets and their fans can breathe a bit easie...
