NFL Discusses Rules, Requirements of a Catch: Latest Comments and Reaction

Dallas Cowboys fans will probably be thrilled to know that the NFL is at least discussing the vague rules about what constitutes a catch on the field long after Dez Bryant’s attempt in the playoffs against the Green Bay Packers was ruled an incomplete pass.
Troy Vincent, former cornerback (most notably for the Philadelphia Eagles) and current Executive Vice President of NFL Football Operations, noted that there was plenty of discussion Tuesday:
It would certainly benefit the players, officials and fans watching to have a clear understanding of what a catch is during the course of the game. It may seem simple, but the Bryant play highlighted just how vague and difficult some of the nuances of the rule were to understand, so this is progress.
As Vincent mentioned, even the advance of slow-motion replay only served as another source of confusion on close plays.
