NFL Playoff Scenarios: Tennessee Titans
It's almost impossible to believe this is true, but the 6-8 Tennessee Titans are still alive the the AFC playoff picture. And in fact, the only way they're going to get to the postseason is as a division champion.
With their 31-17 win over the Houston Texans today, the Titans eliminated the Texans from playoff contention. But because the Colts also beat the Jaguars, that means the division could conceivably be won with an 8-8 record.
That obviously means the Titans need to win out, which would include a win over the Colts. They also need Indianapolis to lose at Oakland in Week 16, which is certainly a possibility.
The tougher aspect of the Titans' playoff picture is the Jacksonville Jaguars, who will have to lose to Washington and Houston in the final two weeks. Those two teams have 10 wins combined, and can't play defense worth a darn.
So ultimately, it's not impossible, but it is improbable.
