NFL Week 5 Picks: Jacksonville Jaguars’ David Garrard Due for a Big Day

Jacksonville is coming off a huge win against Indianapolis, in a game where the Jaguars' offense finally showed some much-needed signs of life. The numbers for running back Maurice-Jones Drew were impressive, but possibly overlooked was the resurgent performance from much-maligned quarterback David Garrard.

Garrard had struggled mightily in the season's first 3 weeks, and his performance against the Colts had to give both the Jaguars' coaches some confidence in his ability to maintain leadership of the Jacksonville offense. Garrard only threw for 163 yards, but he was sublimely efficient: 17 completions on 22 attempts and 2 key touchdowns.

It's a far cry from the trainwreck he was in Jacksonville's embarrassing loss at San Diego, where he threw 4 interceptions, and an even further cry from his almost equally poor showing at home against the Eagles where he managed to accrue only a 38.9 quarterback rating.
