NFL Week 5 Picks: Washington Redskins’ Ryan Torain Will Emerge

With previous number one running back Clinton Portis shelved for 4 to 6 weeks with a severe groin injury, I expect Washington Redskins runner Ryan Torain to become a household name (at least in households where fantasy football is a topic of conversation). Torain's rise will be accelerated this week as the Redskins host the Green Bay Packers. Green Bay has shown weakness in defending the running game, as they currently have the 24th ranked run defense in the league.

Torain had a nice game against the Eagles once Portis went down, rushing for 70 yards on 18 carries and a touchdown. Health has been his biggest problem across his NFL career, as he's gone through a torn ACL and a shattered elbow in his still-young career.

He now appears healthy, and with Donovan McNabb struggling with his accuracy and consistency I expect the Redskins to lean heavily on Torain today against Green Bay. The idea will be to keep Aaron Rodgers and the Packers' potent passing game off the ...
