Norv Turner Resigns as Vikings OC: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction

After consecutive poor offensive performances in losses to the Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Norv Turner resigned from his position Wednesday.
ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported the news, and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport later confirmed it. 
The Vikings made the news official and announced that tight ends coach and former Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Shurmur will serve as the interim offensive coordinator. 
When asked whether or not he tried to get Turner to remain with the team, head coach Mike Zimmer said the two had a long talk, but Turner was set in his decision, per Rand Ball of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
"He's been my right-hand man," Zimmer said, per Albert Breer of NFL Network. "I was very, very surprised."
