Philadelphia Eagles Acquire Ernie Sims From Lions For Fifth Round Draft Pick

The Eagles gave up a fifth round pick in this week's draft for weak side linebacker Ernie Sims.
Sims was one of the few bright spots for the dismal Lions over the last few seasons.
Sims had 100 tackles in each of his NFL seasons, aside from last season in which Sims missed a good portion of the year.
The Eagles lost Will Witherspoon and Chris Gocong this offseason leaving the linebacking corps with one returning starter, middle linebacker Stewart Bradley.
The Eagles front seven left something to be desired last season, and Sims adds athleticism and talent to an under-performing defense.
Sims is a former ninth overall pick out of Florida State.  He ran a 4.55 40 yard at the NFL combine coming out of college. 
The Eagles were able to add an athletic sure tackler for a fifth-round pick to sure up their defense.
