Philadelphia Eagles: Andy Reid Names Michael Vick Starting Quarterback

The Kevin Kolb era in Philadelphia is over.
Kolb has been sent to the bench in favor of Michael Vick, who will be the Eagles starter for the remainder of the 2010 season.

According to sources, Reid simply thought Vick was playing too well to sit. He is apparently still of the thinking that Kolb is a high-quality starter, but that doesn't matter anymore as benching Kolb will likely destroy any confidence he had left.

After Reid said Kolb was going to be the starter moving forward, why would he decide to stick with Vick so suddenly?

The film. And more specifically, Reid hadn't watched it yet. He likely sat down Monday night to watch the film and was blown away by how well Vick passed the ball, moved around behind the line of scrimmage, and commanded the offense.

He probably decided Monday night that he was going to go with Vick, but took the night to sleep on it and talk it over with offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg and owner Jeff Lurie.
