Philadelphia Eagles Lose out on Visanthe Shiancoe; What About Jeremy Shockey?

The Philadelphia Eagles worked out tight end Visanthe Shiancoe yesterday but he signed with the New England Patriots today. The Eagles apparently want to provide competition with Clay Harbor for the backup tight end position, because they plan to work out Jeremy Shockey sometime this week.
Shockey is a 10-year veteran, a four-time Pro Bowler, two-time Super Bowl champ and one of the most hated athletes in Philadelphia history. He broke onto the scene in a big way as a rookie in 2002, outjumping Brian Dawkins on a ball in the end zone, and he totaled 74 receptions for 894 yards and two touchdowns.
Shockey has had a pretty underrated career, as he’s brought in over 500 lifetime receptions for 6,143 yards and 37 touchdowns. He has topped 400 yards every year of his career, and he’s managed to stay productive the last several years with the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers.
