Redskins Suing H.B. Blades After Overpaying Former LB $40,000: Details, Comments

The Washington Redskins are reportedly suing H.B. Blades in a New York federal court to recoup $40,000 they accidentally paid the former linebacker in December 2013 "as a result of a clerical error," according to TMZ.
The summons noted Blades has "21 days from receipt of the document to reply to the Redskins' complaint," according to the Washington Post's Liz Clarke. "Failure to respond, it noted, would result in 'judgment by default.'"
Clarke added that the Redskins reportedly paid Blades, who played for the team for four seasons after it selected him in the sixth round of the 2007 draft, "a $40,000 severance on Sept. 28, 2012," before committing the clerical error over a year later.
And while Blades reportedly agreed to repay the Redskins $20,658.88 following an arbitration hearing, per Clarke, he has yet to part with the agreed-upon cash.
