The New York Jets front office is about to ramp up its efforts to keep impending free agent Ryan Fitzpatrick after the quarterback enjoyed a strong season leading the team's offense.

Jets Hopeful Agreement Can Be Reached with Fitzpatrick Friday, Jan. 22 Rich Cimini of ESPN passed along comments about the situation from Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan on Friday, and he stated the organization feels "very strongly" about keeping Fitzpatrick.
"Hopefully, we'll be able to get something done here in the near future," Maccagnan said.  
Fitzpatrick took over the reins of the Jets offense after the now infamous encounter between Geno Smith and IK Enemkpali, which left the quarterback with a broken jaw. He ended up leading the team within one victory of the playoffs.
