Sam Bradford Contract: Latest News and Rumors on Negotiations with Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles traded for quarterback Sam Bradford in March, and one of the first points of emphasis for both the team and Bradford was if he would get a short-term contract extension.

Talks Between Bradford, Eagles End Ahead of Regular Season Wednesday, Sept. 9 Ed Werder of ESPN reports the sides are no longer involved in talks about a potential contract. He noted the main reason for that is the quarterback's success during the exhibition slate. He completed 13 of 15 passes with three touchdowns and no interceptions in limited duty.
At the outset, a short-term agreement for an additional year or two beyond the 2015 campaign made sense for both sides.
It would have given the Eagles a little more clarity on the future of the position. Bradford is currently in the final year of his current deal, which checks in at a shade under $13 million, per Spotrac, and he could hit the open market next offseason.
