Last year’s two top seeds in the NFC clash in a potential playoff preview when the Green Bay Packers host the San Francisco 49ers at Lambeau Field.
And if past performance dictates future events, the Packers will cover the spread here in Week 1 as a five-point home favorite at almost every sportsbook.
"The Packers have been one of the league's best teams as a home favorite and they have won and covered five straight season openers," explained Jack Randall, a handicapping analyst at OddsShark.com.
Indeed, the chart shows Green Bay at 24-12-2 ATS as home chalk since the 2006 season. But the 49ers have also been a good Week 1 bet at 6-2-1 ATS in the past nine seasons.
