Chandler Hints at Retirement Saturday, April 2 Chandler's wife—Alissa Chandler—shared a message from the veteran tight end in which he revealed that knee surgery will keep him out for all of 2016 and "probably" force him into retirement:
The New England Patriots signed Chandler last offseason as depth behind superstar tight end Rob Gronkowski, but his production was fairly limited as he caught just 23 passes for 259 yards and four touchdowns.
The Pats released Chandler this offseason and replaced him with former Chicago Bears tight end Martellus Bennett.
Chandler primarily served as a starter for the Buffalo Bills from 2011 through 2014, making 182 receptions for 2,120 yards and 17 touchdowns during his tenure.
While he was far from an elite player at his position, he was a capable starter when called upon...
