Shonn Greene Released by Titans: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction

After two seasons with the Tennessee Titans, veteran running back Shonn Greene was released on Tuesday, the team announced. 
Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean was the first to report the Titans' intention to part ways with the 29-year-old back.
Greene's status has been somewhat uncertain throughout the offseason as he did not attend the team's voluntary offseason program. According to John Glennon of the Tennessean, Greene was caring for his child instead. Despite Greene's absence, head coach Ken Whisenhunt wasn't particularly concerned: "Obviously we'd like to have him here. But he's a veteran. He knows how to get himself prepared. ... We've communicated with him. But once again, he's a veteran player and this is voluntary. This is not atypical of other teams in the league."
The Titans' decision to release Greene comes at an interesting time since the former Iowa Hawkeye was on the verge of rejoining the team, per Wyatt:
