Simon Harris: Can Former NC State Basketball Player Make It In The NFL?

NC State recently held a pro day, where any local college football player could come and work out in front of NFL scouts.
The usual suspects were there: Willie Young, Toney Baker, and many other Wolfpack players looking to enter the NFL. There was also a very interesting prospect there in former NC State basketball player Simon Harris.
Simon Harris graduated from NC State back in 2009, and he has recently played in a basketball league overseas. Harris has kept himself in good shape since leaving NC State, and he has even recently bulked up some.
Harris hasn't played organized football since he was in the eighth grade, so it will be tough for him to go to a team and make an immediate impact.
Simon Harris' case sounds extremely familiar to another tight end in the NFL, Antonio Gates, who currently plays for the San Diego Chargers.
Gates also didn't play college football, but he did play football all through his high school years.
