Indianapolis Colts linebacker Sio Moore was fined $17,363 on Friday for a late hit in Week 5 on Houston Texans quarterback Ryan Mallett, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.
Moore took to Twitter to voice his frustration:
Moore was penalized after knocking the wind out of Mallett in the second quarter, and the quarterback never returned, prompting speculation that he may have lost his starting job to Brian Hoyer in the process, per Josh Alper of ProFootballTalk.
"Coach Bill O’Brien then announced that Hoyer would be the starter this week, a decision he might have made anyway given Mallett’s overall ineffectiveness and the fact that he turned to Hoyer in the team’s previous game," Alper wrote.
Hoyer, the team’s Week 1 starter, played six possessions in the game—which resulted in a field goal, a touchdown, a punt, a touchdown, a field goal and an interception, respectively—according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.
