Smooth Move: The Top Three Current Smooth Running Backs (With Video)

When I think of smooth running backs, I think of the amazing Walter Payton. Payton was the greatest running back of all-time in my mind, and always will be. His smoothness is defined as being a leader by example, rarely overflowing with emotion on the gridiron, and just overall graceful to watch. There are few running backs in the NFL today that can be labeled smooth. Many tailbacks wear their emotions on a sleeve, some may get in off-field troubles, and many just lower their shoulder and power through the defense- like the man shown in the picture. Smoothness in a running back is something I love and adore. This doesn't mean I don't love players who run with a passion, but there's something about watching a calm, collected runner that leads their team to victory with great vision and cuts.
