Spring Cleaning: New York Jets Deal Leon Washington, Cut Alan Faneca

The Jets are cleaning out some roster space. Following the draft, the Jets announced that they are cutting Pro Bowl guard Alan Faneca and have traded Leon Washington to the Seattle Seahawks for a fifth round pick. These moves were obviously preceded by the drafting of running back Joe McKnight and guard Vladimir Ducasse. 
Why cut Faneca? He was a six-time Pro Bowler who helped make the Jets line be the best in the league. Well, he also is a 33-year-old guard who was the highest paid on the line. He was arguably the weakest link on the line. They thought Ducasse was the future.
Was this a smart move? Faneca was old, and they believed Ducasse is a good talent. Faneca eventually had to be let go. Faneca was the highest paid on the line. I think this was a good personnel move.
Now for Washington. He was coming off a broken leg, and no one knew if he would be the same. He's a free agent next year, and the Jets obviously weren't keeping him. The Jet's ...
