Tim Tebow Requesting a Trade Is the Wake-Up Call New York Jets Need

Ordinarily, we begrudge a player his right to request a trade. It's considered selfish, more often than not. To some extent, it is in this case. 
In this instance, though, is that selfishness justified? That depends on whether you believe the New York Jets actually promised backup quarterback Tim Tebow an opportunity if injury or poor play were to befall starting quarterback Mark Sanchez.
According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Tebow is reportedly unhappy with how things are going in New York and will request a trade if Greg McElroy starts at quarterback for the last two games of the season:
