Vince Lombardi Trophy Captured By Packers After MVP Performance By Rodgers.
Legendary Green Bay Packers coach Vince Lombardi, who led the Packers to their first two Super Bowls in Super Bowls I and II, once said, "Football is like life - it requires perseverance, self-denial, hard work, sacrifice, dedication and respect for authority."
The Packers needed all of these qualities to win their first Super Bowl since 1997 on Sunday, defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers, 31-25, in Super Bowl XLV and grabbing the Lombardi Trophy.
Leading the charge was quarterback Aaron Rodgers. In his first Super Bowl ever, Rodgers threw for 304 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions against a Steelers defense that allowed 14.5 points per game during the regular season.
Rodgers also probably knew of this quote by Lombardi: "It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up."
