We Remember: Michael Strahan Breaks the Single-Season Sack Record on Brett Favre

August 3, 2014   ·     ·   Jump to comments

Former New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on Saturday night, so it only seems appropriate that we look back on one of the biggest plays of his career.
Going up against the Green Bay Packers during the 2001 season, Strahan just needed one more sack to break Mark Gastineau's single-season record that was previously at 22. After hiking the ball, Packers quarterback Brett Favre ended up running at Strahan and then sliding, giving the Hall of Famer the sack record with 22.5.
It's still unclear whether or not Favre's slide was intentional, but no one is questioning whether or not Strahan deserved to break the record.
