What Vernon Davis Acquisition Means for Peyton Manning, Broncos Offense

The Denver Broncos are undefeated, but that doesn’t mean they’re not looking for any way to improve. On Monday, the Broncos made a trade with the San Francisco 49ers for veteran tight end Vernon Davis.
Davis was selected by the 49ers in the first round (sixth overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft out of the University of Maryland. He has started at least 14 games in eight of his nine NFL seasons while playing in all but five contests since 2007.
Broncos general manager John Elway was elated to add such a talent to the roster.
"We're excited to add TE Vernon Davis to the roster. I think that he's a guy that brings great experience, great speed. [He is] a guy that's been a team leader for the [San Francisco 49ers] for a long time. He will be a great addition.”
